Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American singer, actress and writer. Sara Ramirez was raised by her American mother and faced a lot racial taunts that made her feel unwelcome. When she went to school contests and received high praise for her singing when she was in the ninth grade the young girl started to feel more confident. The experience not only boosted her self-confidence but also changed the direction she wanted to go in her career. She graduated from New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. She started her professional journey at age 23 with Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and The You've Got Mail film. In the Broadway version of the original show Spamalot She played the role of Lady of The Lake and was awarded the Tony Award as well as critical praise. In the following year, when she was Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy on ABC her role was given greater fame. Alongside having a cult following as a singer, she released a solo as well as an extended version. As an activist, she strives in the cause of LGBT equality.
